Hailing from Los Angeles, Dawes are a four-piece folk-rock band, creating a sound reminiscent of 1960s ‘Laurel Canyon,’ of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills & Nash through their dynamic vocal harmonies and well-crafted acoustic songs. Featuring brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, Tay Strathairn and Wylie Gelber, Dawes’ debut album, recorded using analog tape for a vintage authenticity, received positive critical acclaim, praised for its roots-rock and classic sound. Their following releases broke through to radio success and they continue touring in support of their recent release, All Your Favorite Bands (produced by David Rawlings) – which they call the “most live sounding and most true sounding” LP in their repertoire. Even if that is so, there’s still nothing quite like the kinetic spark of their live performances.
