Q: How do I get to Prescott Park?
A: Please click here for directions to Prescott Park.

Event Cancellation

Q: What happens if it rains? Are the events cancelled?
A: Inclement weather can be very dangerous to outside events (metal scaffolding, slippery surfaces, electrical sound system and microphones) and occasionally we have to cancel a show.

We try to hold off cancelling an event until the last minute so that you can enjoy EVERY performance we have scheduled, but the weather is beyond our control. When we have to cancel an event, we will post a notice on the home page of our web site, as well as record a voice message on our phone system (603.436.2848). Please call or check the web site before coming down for an event.

Q: I've never been to Portsmouth, NH. What are there for dining options in the area?
A: Boy, have we got dining options for you! From breakfast to dinner, there are all flavors and options available. Check out our dining guide for some of the finest cuisine and food shops around! And if you just want a bite to eat while watching a show, we have a great Concessions stand.

Q: Is there Boating at Prescott Park?
A: Publically available docking space is available at Prescott Park on the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth. Reservations are possible. The dock is governed by city ordinance. The dockmasters monitor VHF Channel 09, and notice of arrivals is requested. For detailed information, please visit http://www.cityofportsmouth.com/prescottpark/docks.htm

Q: What's the difference between Prescott Park and Prescott Park Arts Festival?
A: Prescott Park was created and has been maintained by the terms of the last will and testament of Josie F. Prescott, a life long resident of the City of Portsmouth. It was her wish that a public park, free and accessible to all, be established along the Portsmouth waterfront replacing what had become a run down industrial area of Portsmouth.

Stretching along the Piscataqua River from lower State Street to Mechanic Street are over ten acres of flower gardens, walkways, seating, docking and grass areas all designed for public use and recreation. In the summer a "trial garden" is planted with over 500 flower varieties. There is a "formal garden" featuring trees and the sense of a park-within-a-park. In addition there are fountains, tree lined walkways, a flower wall and a separate rose garden for the public to view.

During the summer months, the Prescott Park Arts Festival organization is granted the rights to showcase artistic venues of music, theater and art in Prescott Park for all to enjoy.

Q: Are chairs and tables available to rent?
A: Tables and chairs are available for rental. Please click here for more information.

Q: I'm getting married and would like to have my wedding in Prescott Park. Is this possible and who do I contact?
A: Prescott Park is open to weddings, but it is not Prescott Park Arts Festival that needs to be contacted. The Prescott Trust Fund managed by the Trustees of Trust Funds is responsible for the care and maintenance of Prescott Park. Click here for the Prescott Park Wedding Policy and Registration form.
