30 Pages in 30 Days!
A Playwriting Competition
Calling all playwrights, aspiring playwrights, or anyone looking for a great New Year’s resolution:
30 Pages In 30 Days is back again for its second year in a row!
We're calling on all you talented, creative, local playwrights to join in the fun and accept our challenge. The winner takes home $500 cash AND the opportunity to have their play performed on the Prescott Park stage as part of our 2018 season.
How does it work?
Participating playwrights will have 30 days, beginning January 1st through the 31st, to write an original one-act that speaks to complex social issues affecting our communities. Submit your one-act no later than February 1st. A panel of judges will review all submissions, and yours could be one of three finalists chosen to have their one-act plays performed as a staged reading in front of a live audience. After all three fantastic one-act plays are performed, one fantastic winner is chosen. For official detailed rules, click HERE.
What’s the catch? Is there a catch?
Participants will be expected to attend one of two scheduled workshops facilitated by Award-Winning local Playwrights. These workshops will guide playwrights, and anyone else attending, how to write a producible play while keeping the focus on a complex social issue of their choosing. It’s important to represent both sides of an issue, and to not see this as pushing one viewpoint. Let the audience come to its own conclusion, and the workshops will help you figure out how to do that.
Still sounds like this might be your jam?
Of course it is! It’s fun, educational…and did we mention the winner of this competition will present their one act on the Wilcox Main Stage as part of the Prescott Park Arts Festival Summer 2018 season? and don’t forget…a $500 cash prize.
