Fairy House Tour

The Friends of the South End (FOSE) is a nonprofit corporation located in the South End of Portsmouth, NH. FOSE’s mission is to foster a cooperative, neighborly spirit and to encourage the preservation of the South End’s historic character. We disseminate information about important developments in the city and strive to enhance the quality of life in the neighborhood. Membership is open to others who share the goals of the organization. FOSE sponsors several events throughout the year, including the Fairy House Tour each fall.
“The proceeds from this long-standing collaborative community event benefit our local schools and participating nonprofit partners,” according to FOSE co-president, Mary Thomas. “Since the Fairy House Tour began 20 years ago, FOSE has reinvested over $350,000 in these important South End organizations and in the Portsmouth community as a whole, which has really amplified the magic of this special, all-ages event.”

Join us for an extra-special edition of this beloved annual family-friendly outdoor event. Come see hundreds of enchanting fairy houses on display on the grounds of the Strawbery Banke Museum, Governor John Langdon House, Prescott Park Arts Festival and the Gundalow waterfront. Plus, enjoy fairy-inspired performances by the Southern New Hampshire Dance Theater, The Players’ Ring and New Hampshire Theatre Project throughout the weekend.

By providing young dancers with quality dance training and unique performing opportunities, the Youth Ballet continues to inspire youth in the community, fostering their artistic growth and enriching their lives. Southern NH Youth Ballet is proud to be the only company from New Hampshire to join RDA Northeast.
The Youth Ballet presents three major performances throughout the year: The Nutcracker, a Spring Performance in April and the school’s Year-End Performance in May. Graduates of Southern NH Youth Ballet have been contracted with professional companies and productions including Joffrey Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Ballet Austin, Nevada Ballet Theatre, The Metropolitan Opera, Sacramento Ballet, Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Walkerdance, Gus Giordano, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular and Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story.
